RAGS NEWS: MRF Event a success

We need to know what you do!!

RAGS members enjoyed a day of fun packed action in Ayrshire on the 26th of October. After a morning of stimulating presentations covering kerbside recycling, MRF operation, recycling targets and future funding, the delegates visited East Ayrshire Council's MRF in Kilmarnock and Lowmac Alloys MRF in Irvine.

After a thoroughly enjoyable (but wet) afternoon, the group returned to the Park Hotel in Kilmarnock for refreshments and an opportunity to chat with new and old friends alike. Brian Bingham, RAGS chairman, said "today’s event shows that RAGS has an essential role in bringing the public, private and community sectors together to share ideas and experiences, in order to make Scottish recycling the envy of the world". Have a look and see when the next RAGS event is planned near to you!

We are still waiting to hear from a number of our members - have you returned your RAGS members information form yet?? Unless we know what you do, we can't target our services appropriately.. Please fill it in and get it back to us! If you have lost yours, please contact Claire at the RAGS office

The Scottish Executive is consulting on  a National Framework for non household (i.e. Commercial and industrial) waste, to move Scotland further towards a culture of waste prevention, recycling, composting and other such technology for reduce residual. This consultation should be of interest to all our members in the public, private and community sectors as waste streams to be covered k include agricultural waste, batteries, broken items, catering waste, clinical waste, computers, hazardous waste, office waste, metals, paper, board, plastics, construction and demolition waste. As it stands, the National Framework will apply to all sizes of organisation – from small commercial premises and sole traders to large industrial complexes and it will covers all types of waste.
